Brock11 is currently working with a client that is a reputable and innovative design-build construction firm dedicated to delivering high-quality building and infrastructure projects. We're seeking a motivated and talented individual to join the team and contribute to the mission of creating sustainable and efficient solutions for their clients.

 

We are currently searching for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Estimating Leader with 5-10 years of expertise in preconstruction projects for one of its top clients. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping our projects from the beginning by providing accurate and comprehensive estimates. As a Senior Estimating Leader, you will lead a team of estimators, develop strategies for cost estimation, and ensure our projects are financially viable.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead and mentor a team of estimators to deliver high-quality cost estimates.
  • Coordinate and lead a team of preconstruction associates on larger projects.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Participate with the Director of Preconstruction (and lead when directed to) in the preconstruction strategy meeting on the approach to the project or estimate.
     

Cost Estimation:

  • Develop and oversee the creation of detailed cost estimates for preconstruction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and overhead costs.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness in all estimates.
  • Coordinate the assembly of the preconstruction material for presentation purposes to the Owner.


Bid Management:

  • Manage the bid process, including reviewing and analyzing subcontractor and supplier bids.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to secure competitive pricing.
  • Create subcontractor/material supplier bid lists.
  • Lead in the solicitation process to ensure proper bid coverage. Prepare bid packages, obtain bids from subcontractors and material vendors, and analyze bids from subcontractors and material vendors.
  • Understands the bid/GMP process as it relates to a project’s financial success.
     

Value Engineering:

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering strategies to optimize project budgets without compromising quality.
  • Prepare detailed estimates including general conditions (conceptual, schematic, design development, construction). Lead Value Engineering process to align project scope to Clients' budgets.
     

Cost Database Management:

  • Maintain and update a comprehensive cost database with current market rates for materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Prepare and analyze cost models during Design Development.
  • Visit ongoing projects to verify the status of the estimate versus project status, meet with the project operations team, view work in place for experience, and compare to the estimate.

Proposal Development:

  • Assist in the preparation of proposals for clients, including detailed estimates, project scopes, and cost breakdowns.

 

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project requirements and budgets.

 

Client Relations:

  • Communicate with clients to address their budgetary concerns and requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Regularly participate in presentations to secure new work.
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of all key Owner and Contractor contract terms & conditions.
     

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to enhance the estimating process.
  • Keep current on changes and trends in methods of construction and materials, construction costs, wage rates, fringes, and working rules.
  • Identify and qualify new material suppliers and subcontractors and place them into the subcontractor database.
     

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
  • 5-10 years of experience in preconstruction project estimating, including leadership roles.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost factors.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and tools, including experience with industry-specific software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Has demonstrated the ability to interact with Owners, Design Professionals, company associates, and other parties with positive results.
  • Knowledge of local and national construction regulations and codes.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., AACE, CPE, ASPE) are preferred.
  • LEED AP Certification is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team.
